About Us
TERME Banja Luka has been part of the Institute for Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation, and Orthopedic Surgery “Dr Miroslav Zotovic” since 2019 (www.zotovicbl.com). At that time, the Institute privatized the old “Šeher” spa with the goal of restoring it and putting it back into function — for the citizens of Banja Luka, as well as for domestic and international guests.

This modern spa and recreational complex is designed to meet the needs of the modern individual — from recreation and health protection, to treatment, rehabilitation, and complete recovery. Thanks to the centuries-old tradition of using thermo-mineral water, the site where TERME Banja Luka is located is protected and listed as a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Healing properties of thermo-mineral water
The thermo-mineral water at TERME Banja Luka is among the most healing natural springs in the region. Its unique composition and optimal temperature have been proven to have therapeutic effects on various diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system, such as:
- chronic inflammatory rheumatism in the remission phase (rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis)
- degenerative rheumatism of peripheral joints and the spine
- extra-articular rheumatism (bursitis, tendinitis, myalgias)
- post-traumatic conditions
- post-operative conditions
In addition, the thermo-mineral water at TERME Banja Luka demonstrates highly beneficial therapeutic effects for cardiovascular, neurological, gynecological, and numerous other conditions, making it a valuable natural resource for health and rehabilitation.

The healing properties of this water were recognized as early as the time of the ancient Romans, who used it for therapeutic purposes. During the Ottoman period, a tradition of building spas developed in this region, where people were treated for rheumatism, neuralgia, and skin diseases.
Today, the therapeutic effects of the thermal water are confirmed by modern medical research conducted by leading balneoclimatologists and the Public Health Institute of the Republic of Srpska.
The temperature of the thermal water at TERME Banja Luka ranges from 26 to 33˚C, making it ideal for both therapeutic and recreational use. Chemically, this water is sulphated, muriatic (sodium-chloride), and earthy-alkaline (calcium/magnesium-bicarbonate).
This combination of minerals gives the water its specific healing properties, contributing to body regeneration, pain relief, recovery after injuries and surgeries, and positively affecting many other conditions.
